michelangelo's breathtaking Pietà is surely reflected in the second-last scene of the film. after endless gazing and reflecting on it while studying the relationship between art and faith in the vatican this winter, it jumped out at me in the film.
as for the final scene in the clip (the open tomb), it is summarized in handel's scripture-to-music masterpiece better than i can do:
I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth;
and though worms destroy [my] body yet, in my flesh shall I see God.
For now is Christ risen from the dead, the first-fruits of them that sleep.
Since by man came death,
By man came also the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die,
Even so in Christ shall all be made alive
O death, where is thy sting? O grave! where is thy victory?from Messiah, parts 40-45
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
